Bishop served as the Chairman of the Columbia County Action 76
Committee.
The staffs of the Strozier Library, Florida State University;
the Florida State Library; the P.K. Yonge Library, University of
Florida; the Lake City Community College Library; and other
research centers were most helpful. The materials gathered by the
Columbia County Historical Society were invaluable. I wish to
thank those individuals who participated in the oral history
interviews which furnished information not usually found in
libraries. The publication committee of the Columbia County
Historical Society (Nettie Black Ozaki, Jessie Cole Gleason, James
Ingham, Cone, H. Donald Kirkland, and Audrey Greene) read the
manuscript in its various stages and offered helpful suggestions.
