     The Mathis Plow” designed by Leon Mathis of Lake City. The Plow
     is used for fire protection in the national forests. The first plow is
                 in the Smithsonian Institution





















     Oxen were used on farms in Columbia County until trucks became
     plentiful. This one, c. 1920, was owned and driven by P. J. and Julian
                       Harrington
