A Columbia County Boy's Recollections and Memories of Columbia County Florida (2012) Lenvil H. Dicks

                                                    A LITTLE HUMOR

Me & Mrs. Jones were in a town some distance from their home to attend a convention, and Mrs. Jones
was real anxious to get there in time enough to get a good seat. So they started getting ready in their
hotel room, and when Mrs. Jones was getting dressed, she found that she could not get the zipper to
work properly to line up the back of her dress, so she asked Mr. Jones to see if he could zip the zipper up
to the top of the dress.

Mr. Jones came over and attempted to pull the zipper up, but it resisted his attempts to move it, so he
just grabbed the zipper tab and Hipped it upward with all his might, and the zipper came on up, but he
found he had got his neck tie caught in the zipper, and could not get it out.

So they began to struggle to get his neck lie out of the zipper, and it soon appeared that they were not
getting anywhere with it. Mrs. Jones said, “Well lets go ahead and leave and when we go out of the hotel
you can walk real close up behind me and perhaps no one will notice that your tie is caught in my
zipper, and we will try to see if we can get it out in the cab before we get to the auditorium.”

So they walked out of the hotel in the manner in which she had suggested, and there happened to be an
old dog lying there on the sidewalk up against the building, and when he saw them, he ran over to his
watering pan and picked it up with his teeth, and ran over there and threw all the water in it on them!
