Hopeful Baptist Church about 1935, appearing much the same as at
the time of John Dicks’s ordination in 1915. This church building was
constructed in 1897 after a hurricane destroyed the original building.
Two new church sanctuaries have since been built—one in 1948 and
another in 1995—to accommodate the growing Hopeful membership.
