ers, one o which was tha he beginning is always hard, unles::. you wan o succeed.
We journeyed on into the second grade led b iss Woodard, rs. cGhin,
Miss Evans, and iss Johnson. Then we had our first gre hr;ll, a chance o ac
in the great drama, Peter Rabbi . We hri'led he a d ence a he P. T. A. mee ing
wr our orches ra whose grea ness exceeded tha of he symphon orches ra of oday.
After his we journeyed ur her in o the future. During he remain'ng years
of our elemen ary learning, al hough we were faced by many obs acles, we manage
o gain more nowledge and experience which helped us when we finally reached
he seven h grade. We were hrilled to be able to go from one class to ano her and
o be able to at end chapel wi h the high school s u en s. We were proud of
our seventh grade foo ball earn, who were destined o become stars; our e m
defeated he eighth grade hat year. When we reached t e eigh h grade our earn
won ano her vic ory over he seven h grade.
By the time we reached he nin h grade many of us realized na we mus prepare
ourselves o meet the hardships after otJr school days were over. We began s udying
subjects which would help us to overcome these hardships more easily.
During the remaining months of our freshman year we s udied very diligen ly.
This was our first year in Senior High School, and we wan ed o ma e i the bes
s:nce we s arted to school. We were heavy laden when several of our mos dis in-
guished members had o depar from us and wander in o o her channels. Some of
hese were Florence and Kenne h Harrell, Edsel and Dwigh Jones, Jerry Ann Hop ins,
Carl Roberts, Jr., and Melvin on " Capell. We ook on new hope when some ou -
standing stud en rs joined our crew. They were Mary Je McConnell, George
Ferree, Jr., Sara Ann Hill and Bet y and Patty Blasingame.
When we reached our Sophomore year we realized ha we were advancing
our education more and more each year. Also we realized that here would be more
students who would join our expedition into the future. Those who joined us h ·s
year were Eddie Lou Carrol, Peggie Deen, and David Douglass. Some of our crew
~ad wandered off during the years of our expedition but gradually hey re urned o
explore into the future with their old adventurers. Those who rejoined he exped' ion
were Bill Page, George Heatherly, and Harland Clemen s.
After reaching the eleventh grade we began planning or he Junior-Se
Banquet. This was the big event of he year. Everyone oo ed forward o ; . The
banquet was planned very carefully. Its theme was the 'Gay 90s . The Woman s
Club was decorated with green and white, the senior colors. The menu was he
best of all; it included tur ey, dressing, carrots, salad, ho buns, s ring-beans, and
strawberry shortca e. The entertainment was out of this world. It consis ed o
a barber-shop quartet, a tap dance by the twins Patty and Be y, and a duet by Glen-
da Mclendon and Doro hy Sanders. All during the banque , David Douglass old
io es which kept the group in a cheerful mood. Veronica Goodbread gave a his ory
of the senior class in "Long, Long, Ago. ' The mas er of ceremonies was A 1 Reese
better known as 'Alber Reese's Boy. The banque was a grea success and everyo e
enjoyed it from beginning to end.
Now that we are in the Senior year, we, in order to give he school some hing o
remember us by, are sponsoring an annual. We are rapidly approaching he end o
our senior year. Many of he members of our crew will disembar on other adven ures
into the future. Some will advance fur her into the fu ure to advance heir educa ion.
