                   The Future  Farmers of Amer1ca  is a Nat1onal  Organ1zat1on of, by,  and  for  farm  boys, study1ng Voca-
               tional  Agnculture, between  the  ages  of  14-21  years  of  age  The  F FA.  IS  an  1ntra-curncular  activity
               havmg 1ts  or~gm and  root  m a def1n1te  part of  the school  curr.culum- Vocatlonal  Agr~culture  Through
               act1ve  part1C1pat1on,  the members  learn  how  to conduct  and  take  part  m  publ1c  meet1ngs;  to  speak  1n
               publ1c,  to  fmance  themselves,  to assume CIVIC  respons1bil1 ty  as  well  as  many  other valuable  th1ngs  The
               F FA  IS a non-profit,  non-polit1cal,  farm  youth  orgamzat1on des1gned  for  the development of leadership,
               buildmg  of a more  permanent  agr~culture, and  the  Improvement  of country  life

                   The Bill  Sheely Chapter was  f1rst  organ1zed  in  Sept.  1949,  w1th  Rodney  D1cks  actmg  as  f1rst  Pres.
               The reason  for  the organization of a new Chapter was  due  to  the  large  enrollment  of  the  Ag  Dept  By
               havmg  two chapters the members  have an  opportun1ty  for  more  part1C1pat1on  1n  var1ous  contests,  devel-
               opmg  leadership as  well  as a sense of compet1tion w1th1n  the  Dept.

                  The name  B II  Sheely Chapter was selected as a  tr1bute  to  one  of  our  Columb1a  County  F.F.A  boys
              who gave  h sIde 1n  the  ser  1ce  of  h1s  country  dur~ng World  War  II .  Bill  Sheely  was  an  outstand1ng
              Future  Farmer  as  well  as  a  f.ne  student.
