Tests from last year showed that
there was a deficiency in the reading
level of the student body of CHS.
Due to this deficiency, reading was
selected as the major priority of the
English Department for the 72-73
school year. The faculty adopted a
Reading Improvement Program as
the basic curriculum for tenth grade
English classes. The Junior English
classes studied grammer an~ Ameri-
can Literature, while Seniors took
Advanced Placement English, Com-
position and English Literature.
