J.R.O.T.C.

JROTC is a cooperative program between the
Army and Columbia High School. The purpose
of the program is to provide secondary school
students opportunities of leadership devel-
opment in the interest of National Security. Ju-
nior R.O.T.C. curriculum citizenship and lead-
ership are emphasized in each year of the
program. J.R.O.T.C. develops self-discipline, self
confidence and the respect of their peers which
are sources of pride to young men and women.
The ability to motivate and lead others is
stressed. Extracurricular activities include drill
teams, honor and color guards, rifle teams. The
leaders of R.O.T.C. are Sgt. Mansfield, Colonel
Thomas and Sgt. Atkinson.
