I SUMMARY
Homecoming week began aturday, October twenty-
ninth with tyle and grace. There wa a emi-formal
dance where the Finali t for the 19 - 9 Homecoming
Court were announced.
Monday morning arrived and the clru: e
pirit race in earne t. Ten ion mounted a
winner were announced. Each night the cia e worked
diligently on their kit and float , hoping for a fir t place
win that would put them over the top.
W edne day wa full of fa taction and fun a the clas e
tried to beat each other at everything from quare tuff-
ing to tricycle racing. The enior won early and barely
managed to keep their lead to win fir t place, while the
Junior came in econd, and the ophomore brought up
the rear with third place. Thur day evening, as alumni,
parent , and friend looked on, the cia e howed their
pirit through drama. Then everyone adjourned to the
bonfire and the annual burning of the Homecoming
Game enemy, thi year the Vanguard Knight . At the
bonfire the urpri ing re ult of the kit competition were
given: ophomore , fir t; enior , econd; and Junior ,
third. Afterward , everyone returned to their clas float
to put on the fini hing touche .
Friday finally arrived, murky and muggy with prom-
i e of rain. At the pep rally each clas chanted it omnip-
otence, but in the true Tiger pirit by the end of the pep
rally the entire gym wa cheering for the Tiger . Miracu-
lou ly, by parade time the kie were a beautiful and clear
blue. The parade wa a ucce and everyone waited im-
patiently for that evening' fe tivitie .
A halftime neared, alumni watched current tudent ,
and remembered when they too had been anxiou for that
moment when their clas would be announced winner of
Homecoming. Thi year the enior felt the en e of exhi-
leration from winning a they congratulated each other
on their victory. They then extended their congratula-
tion to the undercla men on a job well done. Evening
wa till not over, Tracy alzer wa announced Home-
coming Queen to an enthu ia tic crowd. And to give it an
even more perfect ending, the Tiger turned out the
light on the anguard Knight 37 to 2.
