Lake City has always been proud of and shown spirit for the Columbia
High Tigers, but in 1989 the pride and spirit was more evident than ever.
For the first time in many, many years, the Columbia High School Fight-
ing Tigers gave Lake City an undefeated season. The only thing uncom-
mon about our spirit was the amount and intensity of it that was shown.
Everywhere you went and everything you saw indicated the pride all
Lake Citians, young and old, felt for their Tigers -from newspaper ads,
billboards, signs posted along the roads, and bumper stickers to restau-
rants posting signs on their marques advertising pre-game specials. But,
the pride and spirit was nowhere more evident than in the Tiger's own
lair. At Columbia High School you could feel it, see it, smell it, and most
definitely the spirit more than audible on Fridays, pep-rally days, when
each class joined together in the gym and shouted, cheered, and jeered
to show their spirit. As we all know, it takes time, dedication, and lots of
practice to become an excellent team, but spirit is what keeps our team
reaching for that # 1 position.

Some people choose to show the1r Tiger Spirit in unusual
ways. Taking purple and gold pride to the limit is Dustin Bass.
Mutual team support is a part of life at CHS. These spirited
Lady Tigers urge the football team on to victory as they await
the start of the Homecoming parade.
