I do remember how we cheered success
how we endured stress
how, as friends, we were so blessed!
Nor can I forget when you took me to task
when you gave answers to all that I'd ask
when you eased the pain so the ache would pass!
Now the future threatens our friendship it seems
urges each of us to fulfill different dreams
teases separation with various schemes!
But friendship like ours just deepens with time
travels countless miles without reason or rhyme
and reaches the level of the sublime.
