activities that inform students of the dangers of tobacco use, partici-
pates in the Great American Smokeout, Kick Butt Day, and other
activities. Columbia County SWAT is a student-run organization and
makes decisions in regard to the expenditure of money to promote
projects throughout the county. This year and in past years, SWAT
has contributed the largest portion of the funds needed to purchase
planners for every student as well as pay for the cover of the Curricu-
lum Guide. We are also sponsors of the Air Show. SWAT has spon-
sored guest speakers at CHS such as Rick Bender, a former pro
baseball player and cancer survivor and Dr. Debenedittis of Media
Literacy who was featured in an episode of 48 Hours for his work
teaching media literacy. Brandon Hill serves as both President of the
club and member on the Board of Directors for the state of Florida.
Brandon and other members participate in Leadership Training, SWAT
tours, and numerous conferences and conventions.
