In the big family here at Columbia High, the juniors can best be described as the
older middle child. Unlike the freshman, we can navigate the halls without the
slightest doubt of our next destination; unlike the sophomores, we're done spending hours
on end in a small classroom re-evaluating our intelligence level by means of the FCAT; and
unlike the seniors, we show up to school every day, immune to the dreaded senior-1tis. We're
hated by the underclassmen because of our soon-to-be sen1or ranking and we're hated by

the seniors because even though their time on top is running out, we're technically still be-
low them. So how do we leave our mark?
Juniors remind me of the little engine who could. He kept reminding himself "I think I
can. I think I can!" And before he knew it, the little engine was at the top of the hill. As juniors
of the class of 2011, we're almost there. Before we know it, it will be our year as the "big dogs
on campus." Dedicahon, hard work, and stress will be put into our studies so that time is not
an issue. Taking one day at a time we slowly manage to understand the importance of the
Reconstruction period after the Civil War, the basic calculator functions when dealing with
Algebra 2 or Pre-calc, and the long process of electron configuration for elements in the
      Periodic Table.
By the time our studies have slowed down and most of our extracurricular activities
are over, the final bell will ring and we will finally be the little engine at the top of the hill.
Although, college applications and summer jobs await us, the hard part is over and we will
finally be able to enjoy high school as it is described sometimes by seniors: the time of our
      lives.
The class of 2011 is a family within a family; we have played together, studied together,
learned together, and grown together. No matter where life takes us we'll always have each
other's backs, lending a helping hand whenever needed. As Coach Vince Lombard1 said,
"Perfection is not attainable. But if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence." We
chased perfection but caught excellence. We are the soon-to-be, the elite, the legend, the
      class of 20 11.
