The Night of Defeat
Homecoming is what the whole community looks forward to all year. The fans
showed more spirit and the players played with more intensity. When the ball was
kicked, the fans went crazy and all of the stress leading up to this game was released.
The classes had been competing all week, but at the game they were reunited as
one- CHS Class! Ridgeview came out strong, scoring on a few possessions in the first
half and Columbia's offense was rather slow. Going into half-time, we were down
by two points, and the fans were a little more relaxed. Following half-time the team
walked out all fired up, and as second half started, defense looked almost unbreak-
able. It seemed as though we came out ready to pounce on the panthers! We got to
the fourth quarter, the fans were antsy, and the team started to look tired. By fourth
down we needed a big play. The tigers put up a strong fight but it wasn't enough, the
final score was 9-16. Ridgeview had won. After the game the fans seemed a little
surprised and upset, but they all realized it was just another game and will come
back and support the tigers just as they have in the past!
