Another much  co,·eted  piece  ol art, in the po,;sL~sion  ol  I I)O I ,
                                                      is  No.  2,  entitled,  "The  H\·olution  of  \Ian.'   This  treasure  was
                                                      fishL'<I up  from  the  crystal  depths  of  Forida's  boast,  the  renowned
                                                      Sil\·er Springs.  The  picture is belie\·ed  to  have  been  one  of Ponce
                                                      lle Leon's  \·aluables,  and  to
                                                      have  been  lost  during  hb
                                                      famous,  hut  fruitless  search.
                                                      As  fortune  would  have  it,
                                                      though, one of our naturalists,
                                                      prying  into  the  wonders  of
                                                      nature,  discovered  this  pre
                                                      cious  relic,  and,  with  pride,
                                                      entrusted it to his Alma ~later.
                                                      Of cour;.e,  like  the  diamonds
                                                      of South Africa, this  piece  of
                                                      sculpture was somewhat rusted
                                                      and  degenerated  by  its  long
                                                      sojoum  'neath  the  waters  of
                      the Spring, and required a  skillful hand  to  mould  its  growth  and bring
                      it to its present high  state  of de,·elopment,  hut so faithful  has  been  the
                      work  of the artists in  retouching  this  specimen  that we  can say now he
                      has  not  a  match  in  College  he  always  RORRo\\·s  them  fro.n  his  next
                      door neighbor.
