                          of Colonel of the 2nd-. Florida ^Regiment. He always tooM an
                          active interest in all that went to honor the memory and
                           contribute to the aid of t he Confederate soldier.
                                                   /                        .
                          He was a member and one of the Executive Conjmittees of the
                           Confederate Home, had been Commander of E. A. Perry Canp U.C.V.

                          at Lgire City and at his decease was Brigadier General of the
                          2nd Brigade, Florida Division, United Confederate Veterans.
                          Resolved further that we tender our sincere sympathy to his

                          bereaved family and forward them a copy of these proceedings and
                          that his name be furnished the local papers for publication.

                          Following the War between the States It was necessary to mark
                          off the battle lines of the place where the Battle of Gettysburg

                          was fought. A Commission was appointed made up of General Lang,
                          Col. Walter R. Moore, "W. D. Ballentine of the Confederate Army
                          and three men of the Union Army. These men went over the Battle
                          field and marked off the battle lines and the marking stands today

                          as their work.





                           On display in Tallahassee, Florida in the Capital Building, in the
                           Historical Department, are the following belongings of Colonel

                          Walter Raleigh Moore, the Flag of the 2nd Florida Regiment,
                          his uniform and his sword as well as Resolutions passed following
                           his death, because of his prominent and distinguished part as a

                           Confederate Veteran. H® passed away on the 9th day of Oct. 1898.
