Some Stuff I Wrote and Some Stuff I Didn't (2011) H. Morris Williams

school with the best faculty, staff, and equipment-although he often
had to make do with hand-me-down equipment from white schools.

*Robert Allen, Melissa Williams, Reginald Evans, Mario Coppock,
and Theodore Combs: These were some of the first black students to
attend white schools here. Rodney Brown was the first black student
                  to enroll at LCCC.

*Vertie Mae Barrett, Elzina Jenkins, and Minnie Ferguson: They
preserved much of the history of Lake City’s first four black churches:
Trinity Methodist, Mount Pisgah, Bethel, and Trinity, and the strong
influence they had in our community.

Of course there are many more but each of these citizens had a
significant part in local black history and there names will be
                  remembered a long time.

                  HSCT AWARDS NIGHT

The High Springs Community Theater held their awards night
recently and, as usual, several local performers won awards. The
                  Lake City winners were:

*Lead Actress: Pam Register-- for "Lost in Yonkers”, tied with Shari
King for "Bell, Book and Candle".
*Supporting Actress: Lorraine Kirkland for "Bell, Book and Candle".

*Best Actress, Minor role: Stephanie Tyson, for "Bell, Book and
                  Candle".

                  ONE MAN’S CHOICE

A little old lady was running up and down the hallway of a nursing
home flipping up and down the hem of her night gown shouting,
“Super Sex! Super Sex!” An elderly man sitting in a wheel chair
thought a minute and said, “I believe I’ll have the soup!”
