Lake City, Florida: A Sesquicentennial Tribute (2009) H. Morris Williams, Dr. Kevin M. McCarthy
Churches and pastors in Lake City 1900 - 1909
Presbyterian minister Rev. J.S. Crowley, whom the Com-
mittee on Foreign Missions had assigned to travel to Florida, visited
Lake City in 1902 and became the church pastor that year. He was
followed that decade by Mr. C.H. Ferran, Rev. B.H. Dupuy, and
Rev. J.D. Keith.
The First Presbyterian Church was located at the corner
of South Columbia and West Nassau streets.
The Methodists held their 60th session of the Annual Confer-
ence in Lake City in 1903. Two years later the congregation bought
land for a new church at Orange and Columbia streets. In 1907, work-
ers built a stone-block church while Drs. I.C. Jenkins and R. Ira
Barnett were pastors.
