A Columbia County Boy's Recollections and Memories of Columbia County Florida (2012) Lenvil H. Dicks

                                                 C.M. ROGERS

At about the age of 12, Charles Monroe Rogers, Jr., more commonly known as C.M., found himself in
the position of being bread winner and support for his entire family. It included his mother, Mrs. Lula
Rogers, and 4 younger brothers, namely Clarence Rogers, F.T. Rogers, Ferrell Rogers, and Odell
Rogers. Odell was less than one year old at that time, and the three other boys ranged in age from 2 ‘A to
              10 *A years old.

All these boys grew into line outstanding men. Both Ferrell and F.T. passed away within the past 15
years. Ferrell was my age, and we were very, very close friends in our boyhood. F.T. was a successful
Baptist minister, and Ferrell retired from the F.B.I.

C.M. worked hard to find a means of supporting his mother and all of his younger brothers, while
continuing in school, and graduated with his graduating class.

What he performed in keeping this family together and in clothes and food, was a truly remarkable thing
for a young boy to find it necessary to do.

C.M. married one of my older sisters, Opal, and has been my brother-in-law for many, many years. They
had two daughters, Ginger and Elona. There is no man anywhere that I have more respect for than I have
for C.M. Rogers. He is more like a brother than a brother-in-law, and I feel just as close to him as I have
felt to my other brothers. I just hope that he lives long enough to read this book, and to find out how
high esteem I hold him in. I want him to know that I really do love him. He is 92 or 93 as I write this
part of my book, being early July in the year 2012.

Best wishes and a longer life for C.M., and I just cannot fully describe my admiration and deep feeling
             for him.

C.M. went on to be very successful in the business world, and above all, and best of all, he is a Christian
             gentleman to the core.
