The 1978 Basketball season started
with two quick and decisive victo-
ries in front of the student body,
against Jasper and Live Oak. Before
the Christmas break, Stranton
5 pulled ahead of the Tigers, and
through a gallant effort the Tigers
could not catch up and dropped the
game by 13 points.
While everyone was enjoying the
Christmas Holidays the Tigers were
out and fighting. Starting at the Bol-
les Holiday Tournament, the Tigers
defeated Victory Christian in the
first round with a saving shot by
Terry Staten accompanied by ·six
overtimes. In the semi-final round
Bolles came back ahead of the Ti-
gers by a narrow margin. In the
battle for third place the Tigers
overthrew St. Augustine to bring
home the 3rd place, trophy. Then
they ventured to Buchlotz for their
6 Invitational Tournament. In the
semi-final round Lake City out ma-
neuvered Baker County for the win
and a chance for first place. Buch-
oltz and Lake City battled down to
the wire with the Tigers coming out
on top. Closing '77 with a 7-2
record. With the coming of '78 the
Tigers became victorious game af-
ter game.
