The year of 1983 held a first for La e City; the first Miss Olustee Battle Festival Scholarship pageant. Seven
g1rls from vanous count1es competed for the itle. The competition involved evening gown, swimsuit, and talent.
The winner goes on o compete in the Miss Florida pageant, and possibly the Miss America pageant. (left to
nght) The centes ants for the 1983 year are: Karen Blalock, Melanie Warner (Miss Congeniality), Andrea Powell
(second runner-up), Lyn Chasteen (Miss Olustee), Crysta Coody (first runner-up), Deanna Staggers, and T1na
R1chards.
