A second place in state by the 97 team left the
upcoming Tiger football team with some big shoes to fill.
A lot of hard work was ahead of this young but talented
team, to prepare for the road ahead. The work began on
August 1 0. Grueling heat penetrated practice time as
·two-a-days" took over the remainder of summer practice.
The hard work and dedication of the T1gers payed
off as they started the season with three big wins over
Palatka, Terry Parker, and St. Augustine. With a disap-
pointing loss to Valdosta, the Tigers bounced back with a
win over Mandarin and Sandlewood. With the loss of lan
Ring at Quarterback, the sophmore Corey Randolph and
junior Jack Huffman had to split the heavy burden of the
loss to Gainsville. The Tigers came back with wins over
Sante Fe, a District Championship over Lincolin, and a win
over Suwannee to keep the Ole' Oaken Bucket at home
for one more year. They entered the playoffs with a 9-2
record, and got to play at home for the first round of the
state playoffs. The Tigers won the first round 14-3 against
the Lynn Haven Mosley Dolphins. By winning the Tigers
got to play at home once again against the Deland Bull-
dogs, who they defeated 20-14. W1th an unlucky draw, the
Tgers had to travel to Vero Beach, where they were
defeated by the Fightin' Indians 31-26. This brought an
end to a glorious season filled with hard fought, heart-filled
battles. The Tigers went farther than anyone expected.
We hope to see great things from the Tigers in years to
come.
