School is the earliest chance for a person to
learn social skills. Most of us find our first friends
here. This is understandable since the majority
of American children spend at least thirteen
years sitting in a classroom and inevitably resort
to conversing with their neighbors at some point
or another. As the years go by, people find their
ways into groups consisting of other people who
tend to have the same interests. Friendships
form, some lifelong, all of them different just as
all of us are different. There is such a multitude
of diversity, from tastes in music to clothing
preferences. There are those who like sports,
those who would rather paint or draw, or those
who play videogames. Some choose to wear the
latest trends, and some who prefer a more
individualistic wardrobe. He likes to watch
comedies, she enjoys James Bond. School is
where you learn to become yourself. You learn
about people, about happiness, about anger and
frustration. You learn about life. The time you
spend in school is preparing you to face the real
world, not only with pratical knowledge, but also
with life experiences. memories are formed that
will last you forever, each year a new adventure.
Think back and remember the times you spent.
Remember the little things as well as the big, and
take them with youthrough the years. What you
learn here you keep forever. Cori Grier 2004
