Old Age Charged on Birthday
By Margaret Leguire, The Lake City Reporter
Marilee Bonyata, Lake City resident, was arrested at her home
November 2 and charged with failure to move unassisted, tottering while
crossing the street and entering into the old age of fifty while trying to
keep the fact a secret from her friends.
The arresting officer, H. P. Lee, said Mrs. Bonyata offered no resistance.
She was brought before the Merriment Court of the Third Jovial Circuit,
Clown County, State of Old Age.
The Court was held in Olustee Park, and many friends served as the jury.
Vernon Douglas was the presiding judge.
After a few moments of deliberation, the verdict as read by Judge
Douglas was guilty!
Mrs. Bonyata was sentenced: SI to Wesley Memorial Church, 50 years
of clean living starting now!-- and must join A. A. R. P.
She was released to the custody of friends. Judge Douglas’ last words of
admonition were, “Go and sin no more.”
