A Columbia County Boy's Recollections and Memories of Columbia County Florida (2012) Lenvil H. Dicks

                                        LOCAL TALENT ON TELEVISLON

The only TV station that was available in Lake City for the first few years of the television era was the
CBS affiliate in Jacksonville, which was an outgrowth of the Columbia Broadcasting Systems Radio
Station in Jacksonville, which was WMBR.

That was the only station that we could receive in Lake City for a period of time, perhaps 2 or 3, or even
                  4, years.

One thing of local interest might be that one of the favorite programs that the Jacksonville TV station
presented was on Saturday nights, and was a broadcast known as “The Lee Sisters”.

One of those sisters was the mother of my good friend Darrell Hunt, and the wife of Marvin Hunt, who
also became a good friend later.

Many of the local Lake City people would schedule their time around watching the Lee Sisters
Broadcast, because most of them were well known to a good portion of the local population, and they
were quite professional in quality. The Lee Sisters were not personally known to me except for Joyce,
who is the mother of my good friend and colleague in the real estate business, Dan-ell Hunt. It is my
belief that she was married to Darrell’s father, Marvin Hunt, at the time the Lee Sisters were performing
on TV. The names of the four girls in the Lee Sisters Quartet was Joyce, Jerri, Terri (Jerri and Terri were
twins) and Evelyn. Darrell’s father, Marvin Hunt, passed away later on, but before he passed away he
sold me his 320 acre farm on Lee Dairy Road. Joyce is now married to a man whose last name is
                  Lookingbill.

1 suppose the reason I remember the Lee Sisters Quartet so well is because being on TV was considered
to be a big thing, and to be able to see someone on TV that you actually had a personal acquaintance
with was something a young man would not soon forget.
