                       Sec. 25. Each elector upon entering the polling
                   place shall be given one ballot by the inspectors.
                   Before delivering the ballot to the elector, at least
                   one of the inspectors shall write in his own hand
                   his initials or name on the stub attached to the bal­
                   lot. On receiving the ballot, the elector shall forth­
                   with and without leaving the polling place, retire
                   alone to one of the booths or compartments provi­
                   ded for that purpose, and there prepare his ballot
                   by marking with pen and ink or pencil, in the
                   appropriate margin or place, a cross mark (X) be­
                   fore the name of the candidate of his choice for each
                   office to be filled, or by filling in the name of the
                   candidate of his choice in the blank space provided
                   therefor, and marking the cross mark (X) in the
                   appropriate margin.

                       Sec. 26. Any elector applying to vote who by
                   reason of blindness or the loss of the use of
                   his hand or hands is unable to prepare his ballot,
                   may have the assistanceof the inspectors in thepre-
                   paration of his ballot, who shall retire to a booth
                  or compartment with the elector and there pre­
                   pare the elector’s ballot, so as to indicate the
                   elector’s declare choice of candidates as to each
                  office to be filled, without suggestion or inter­
                   ference from inspectors. But in all cases any elect­
                  or before retiring to the booth as provided in this
                  section may have the clerk of the election to
                   read over to him the titles of the offices to be filled
                   and the candidates therefor.

                       Sec. 27. Before any elector applying for as­
                  sistance in the preparation of his ballot,as provided
                  for in Section 26, shall be required or permitted to
                  declare his choice of candidates, all electors, in­
                  cluding those in the booths or compartments,
