New Coaches, New Faces, New Goals, New Beginnings
The Columbia Varsity volleyball team
was ready for the 1993-94 season.
Sometimes in sports, though, the score
doesn't always reflect the true ability of
the players. The varsity volleyball team
proved this. The team was under the
leadership of new coach, Sharon Coats.
The girls started the season with a lot of
enthusiasm and they finished with the
same attitude. Although the season didn't
turn out like expected, the girls played
hard and in their hearts, they are all
winners.
With hard work and dedication these
girls will be something to watch out for in
the future when it comes to dominating the
District.

The Junior Varsity volleyball team started
the season not knowing what to expect.
None of the girls had ever played
volleyball on a school team before. This
didn't diminish their willingness to work
hard. The J.V. was also under the
leadership of a new coach, Mary Hale.
Coach Hale was learning the game as well
as her players, but was determined to get
the girls to do their best. The girls started
the season excited and ready to play the
game. The J.V. season was a good learning
experience for the young players as well as
a good foundation to build for the future.
