The "Pride of Columbia County, the Fighting Tiger Marching Band has done it again. The
band received straight superiors in every category at the F.B.A. (Florida Bandmaster's As-
sociation) contest. This is the seventh consecutive year the band has received straight su-
periors in their contests under the leadership of band director Joseph Adkins. This year's
show brought the smoking Latin flavor to Lake City. Their competition show music was
Malaguena, The Speak Up Mumbo (auxiliary featured), Diablo Jam (percussion featured),
and the smashing love song from the West Side story "Somewhere." The band competed at
the Seaside Invitational Marching Festival, The Showcase of Champions, and the Florida
Band Masters Association Contest and received straight superiors. The band also partici-
pated in the University of Florida's Homecoming Parade, Cotton Bowl Parade and Halftime
Show as part of the famous battle of the Texas Longhorns and the LSU Tigers. After football
season the band held a spectacular Christmas concert for the community, family and friends.
The band also went to concert contest this year and received straight superiors as well.

music really can be.
