           Why a Sem inole?
Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to pursue a career
in law. I knew Florida State University's Criminal Jus-
tice program was exactly what I was looking for. The
college is far enough away from Lake City, but less
than a two hour drive to visit home on the weekends.
The campus is beautiful and full of incredibly nice
people. Tallahassee has plenty of things to do like
shopping, sight-seeing and going to the FSU home
football games. I cannot wait to transition into college
life at the magnificent Florida State University.

                                                         Why choose U F?
It is one thing if you say you are going to college; it is
completely different to say you are going to the
University of Florida. When you tell someone that you
are a student at UF, they think, "Wow, s/he must be really
smart!" Not only are the University's sports programs
one of the best in the county it's medical and science
field are neck and neck with the Ivy Leagues.
                                                                     Korey Nicholson (12)

           Scholarships
To the untrained eye, scholarships are just monetary
donations to a student's academics; however, scholarships,
to us, are ... different. Sure, Bright Futures pays for a college
degree and that Division I sport scholarship you've worked
so hard for but, if you get right to the heart of it, there's
more to it than that. Scholarships are reminders of the
latenight study sessions fueled by Starbucks, and kept
awake and sane by your closest friends; the reminders of
Salvation Army "Bell Ringing'; just to say you did it (and for
the community service of course); the reminders of why
you arrived to practice before everyone, and why you were
the last one to leave. They tell of our accomplishments
and they remind us of where we can improve. Because of
the many people applying for a same scholarship, it is not
always certain that we will be selected, but that is not a
scholarship's true purpose. Scholarships, whether we are
chosen or not, show us who we were, who we are, and who
           we will become.
