Church Camp
I have a home away from home - summer camp. It's a
church camp called 'kids-a-flame: In this camp we Praise
God and do really fun activities. At this place you can be
yourself and just hang with your friends. I know that once
I get here, I can let go and not worry about what anyone
thinks of me, because we're all here for the same thing; to
learn more about ourselves and God.

Boys and Girls State
We can't say we were never warned. It sounded so cliche-too much like what
you hear at the end of a fable. "You will come back a changed person:· Our
reaction: "Yeah right".

Little did we know the staff of Boys/Girls' State had arranged an eventful
ten days with ruthless security guards, a schedule timing out every second
of our visit, and no communication to anyone that lives outside the walls of
Kellum Hall.
The most rewarding part of this chaotic, sleep-depriving trip was finally
sitting in our assigned seat in Congress. Whether part of the justice system
as a Supreme Court judge, Bill Clerk of the Senate, or Chaplain of the House
of Representatives, every delegate had a seat in the real Florida Capitol. We
spent three long but worth-while days here as we debated bill after bill with
a hands-on experience with our State Legislature.
Not only did we all learn to appreciate our Nation and State government
and grow fond of what freedom really means, but each and every one of
us made friends to last us a lifetime and experience that, even if we really
wanted to, could never be forgotten.
