~rt White High School has been open for •
r eight years as a 6th-11th grade school, but •
now the joumey takes a new direction. A •
change that will be happening soon is a brand
new Middle School. Tbe plans for this came •
about when Mr. Hatcher, the superintendent, •
Michael Flanagan, and assistant
dent, Mike Millikin-" king about being •
too overcro d. Tbey didn't want to have
po~s so they decided to start planning •
es to make th s school happen. Tbe first •
phase will be a 6th grade wing, administration •
office, and a cafeteria. Tbe second phase will
be the 7th grade wing, and the third phase • ~-~'-....._~ -
will be the 8th grade wing and a kitchen for •
/
the cafeteria. Until the kitchen is built, food •
will be sent from the High School cafeteria to
the M ddle School cafeteria everyday. By build· •
ing this Middle School, the overcrowding will •
cease to exist and all of the teachers will have •
a classroom. Right now, ten teachers are float·
ing from classroom to classroom, and if the •
student population remains steady, there will •
be no more floaters. "The school was built us- •
ing a High School plan and is not conducive to
have Middle School and High School students' •
together." says Mr. Hatcher. Tbe new Middle •
School will be a big success and everyone is •
looking forward to getting started. Students
should be in the 6th grade wing beginning next •
schoolyear. •
