Some Stuff I Wrote and Some Stuff I Didn't (2011) H. Morris Williams

Happy Birthday, LCCC! And thanks, in memoriam, to those farsighted
private citizens who were there at the creation.

                  MUSEUM THANKS

School Museum thanks to Judy Berube who has donated a 10” X 13”
photo of the original Magnolia Barbecue. “The Mag” was the place to be
for local teens of the 1940’s and ‘50’s and the photo is a treasure.

Thanks also to Ken and Shirley Keen who delivered the picture to me on
Judy’s behalf. By the way, Shirley herself operated Shirley’s Restaurant at
746 East Duval Street from 1965 until a couple of years ago and it was
something of a local institution itself. She has now re-opened the former
Robert’s Dock on US 90 east and is open for breakfast and a buffet lunch.

Also thanks to Adam Crocker (CHS 1998) and Joey Knapp (CHS 1988),
two fine technicians, who have volunteered to help set up the web site to
display James Montgomery’s photos and other memorabilia. Work is now
underway so stay tuned. Thanks also to Nicole DiPatri Sheldon (CHS
1999) who has volunteered to help when things are further along.

                  HAYES, THE GIANT

*When Hayes Odom died two weeks ago, one of the eloquent tributes
paid him came from Gary McGill, Director of the Fisher School of
Accounting at the University of Florida: “Hayes Odom was one of the
giants in the accounting profession in Florida. His influence will be
                  lasting.”

                  NO WINNERS

A man wrote ten puns and entered them in a pun contest. He really
hoped one of his ten entries would win but, unfortunately, no pun in ten
                  did.
