Notable CHS graduate
James Burns (CHS
1947) went on from high school
to become a renowned floral ar-
ranger and the founder of James
Burns Florist. For six decades in
Jacksonville he provided thou-
sands of floral arrangements for
social and business events, wed-
dings, and funerals. He was named
Jacksonville’s “Floral Designer of
the Year” and was elected presi-
dent of both the Jacksonville Flo-
rist Club and the Florida Florists James Burns
Association. He created floral ar-
rangements for U.S. presidents, foreign dignitaries, even the queen of
England.
