The Columbia County Public Library opened in this new
building in 1978. Previous libraries had been located at the
Woman’s Club, a former Police Department building, and a
former Southern Bell telephone building.
The new library building had 8,000 square feet of space,
but through additions now has some 16,000 square feet.
