Lake City, Florida: A Sesquicentennial Tribute (2009) H. Morris Williams, Dr. Kevin M. McCarthy

                                                      Conclusion

As the citizens of Lake City celebrate the sesquicentennial
(150th) celebration of the establishment of their city, they have a lot to
be proud of. As they look back on the previous 150 years, they can
begrudge the loss of educational institutions (Florida Agricultural Col-
lege, Columbia College), but also feel a great pride in their high schools
(Columbia High School, Richardson High School). They can lament
any discriminatory practices toward minorities in the past, but feel
pleased at how citizens of every race, color, and creed are now suc-
cessfully integrated into the mainstream of daily community life.

After 150 history-filled years, Lake City is still a fascinating
place to visit and a wonderful place to call home.
