PEOPLE WHO HAVE INFLUENCED ME

At almost 84 years of age, it is difficult, if not impossible, to recall from memory all of the people that
have been a part of your past.

I have certainly been influenced by my 14 uncles and aunts, counting both the Dicks side of the family
and the Tyre side of the family, and their total of 54 children, all of whom would be my first cousins. In
addition to influence I have felt from my first cousins, I have many other more distant cousins that I feel
have been a good influence on my life, in some way or other.

A list of all of those uncles and aunts, and first cousins, appears at the end of this book.

All of the individuals that I name at the end of this book are my friends, and they do not include any of
my relatives, in the list of 280 names that have been some sort of influence in my life. Also since 1 am
aware that my memory may be faulty, 1 have purposely not listed members of the feminine sex who
have been some sort of influence on my life. Number one, 1 cannot possibly remember each and every
one of them in time to include them in this book, and if I leave any one of their names out I am going to
create a furor, and incur wrath that I will never be able to recover from. Secondly, if I attempted to list
these ladies by name, someone might put two and two together and jump to a wrong conclusion as to
their relationship with me, or even worse, they might jump to the correct conclusion. So 1 will just
simply say, “Thank you ladies, for being an influence in my life”.

The long list of men at the end of this book who have had either a small influence, or a great influence,
on my life is not going to make very interesting reading except for those who want to look at the list to
see if their name appears in it. We went through the considerable trouble of arranging these names
alphabetically, with that in mind.
