election; that I am a citizen of the United States
and that I am qualified to vote under the Consti 75/257
tution and laws of Florida.”
. The registration officer is hereby authorized
and required to administer this oath, and the
elector shall also be required under oath to give
such description of himself as will be sufficient to
clearly identify his person with the act of registra
tion.
Sec. 7. The registration book shall be kept
by the Treasurer, who is hereby constituted the
registration officer, whose duty it shall be to
register the names of all qualified voters, for which
he shall be allowed, as compensation therefor, ten
cents for each name. The registration book shall,
at the top of each page, have printed or written the
oath required by this ordinance to be taken by
electors at the time of registration, and shall be
ruled in columns, with proper headings, so as to
rndicate the date of registration, name, age, color,
ioccupation and place of residence, including the
street, lot and block, with a separate column at
the right side of each line for such notes and
entries as may, from time to time, be necessary to
put opposite any name. The pages of said book
shall be alphabetically arranged and numbered
and the names thereon shall be alphabetically
registered.
Sec. 8. The registration officer shall, prior to
any election, general or special, register all persons
applying to him for that purpose who shall be
qualified under the provisions of this ordinance.
Such registration officer shall open the registration
books at his office at some convenient place in
said city thirty days before such election,
