Charter of the City of Lake City
and equalization of said assessment roll, the City
Council shall determine the amount of money to be 72/257
raised by taxes as provided by law. The Assessor
shall immediately thereafter calculate and carry
out the several assessment of taxes so levied in the
manner provided by the City Charter. On the
first Monday in November, or as soon thereafter
as practicable, it shall be the duty of the Assessor
to present the original assessment roll and a copy
thereof to the City Council, who shall proceed as
provided by the City Charter.
Sec. 11. If from any cause the Assessor shall
not perform the duties laid upon him by the City
Charter and this ordinance, it shall be the duty of
the mayor to remove such Tax Assessor in the man
ner provided by the ordinance for the removal of
officers for neglect of duty.
Sec. 12. It shall be the duty of the Tax Col
lector to collect the taxes as shown by the assess
ment roll in the manner provided by the City
Charter.
Sec. 13. The Collector shall, upon the pay
ment of any taxes, fill out the receipt, entering the
amount of the taxes, describing the property, and
shall note on the tax book the payment thereof,
the number of receipt and the date of payment.
Sec. 14. At any time before the sale of person
al property for the non-payment of taxes, the
claimant of such property may release the same
by payment of the taxes and all legal charges.
The Collector in such cases shall be allowed the
same fees as are allowed to the Sheriff on execution.
If the property be sold for more than the amount
of taxes and costs and fees, the surplus shall be
