Guidance
I have not seen a burning bush
Nor have I heard God speak in thunderous tone.
He has not etched His will for me
Upon a tablet carved from solid stone.
No angel with a flaming sword
Has ever stood forbidding me my way.
God does not light my path with fire
By night nor lead me on with cloud by day.
I have no need for signs like this,
For if I truly seek to know His will
My spirit hears His Spirit speak
When I have calmed my soul and made it still.
He speaks through words of Holy Writ
That I have hidden in my heart and mind,
Through works and acts of Christian friends,
And many times in circumstance I find
A blue print of His will for me
And I but need to read it and obey
To hear His soft “Thou hast done well.”
God speaks to those who listen still today.
