Vera Kilgore Heilig: Her Poetry Lives (2017) H. Morris Williams, Marie Law Haire
On Moving Mountains
I’ve heard it said that mountains can be
Moved
If one has faith. I tell you I have proved
That this is so. Tall mountains of despair
Have vanished when I turned to God in
Prayer.
Great granite hills of grief have gone away
When I have lifted up my heart to pray.
The paralyzing peaks of doubt and fear
Crumble to dust when I can feel God near,
And high sheer cliffs of searing agony
Are leveled when the Master speaks to me.
Move mountains? This is merely childish
Play
Beside the things that happen when we pray.
