"Well, Nine Out Of Twelve Ain't Bad"

It was Ed White's Homecoming and
                      their final game; the Commodores
went down with their ship, as the
Tigers sunk them 50-7 to clinch a tie
for the district lead. The Tigers'
                      explosive veer was helped by
                      numerous Ed White turnovers in
rolling to a 28-0 halftime advantage.
                      Cornerback Gary Williams picked off
                      three passes, Linebacker Chari ie
                      Charles and Roverback Ronnie Drake
each picked off one, and Tim Hester,
                      Alan Pope, and Mike Moon
                      recovered fumbles .
                      James McClellan scored three times,
                      Kent Gardner once, Kip Gardner
                      once, and Tony Robinson twice.
Tony Robinson also gained 133 yards
                      rushing to exceed the coveted
                      1,000-yard mark.
On Saturday, because of a three-way
tie for the district championship, the
                      principals of the various schools
voted on who was to be the
                      representative of the Gateway
Conference . CHS was selected by an
                      overwhelming majority.
For the first time since CHS was
elevated to a 4-A school, the Tigers
were in the state playoffs. (A
                      common occurrence when the 2

                      beating Raines, the Tigers proved
