After three weeks of practice, the
Tiger team had its ·first opportunity
at the Gateway Conference Jam- Tigers Drop Jamboree
boree game to demonstrate their
ability.
The team played the fourth quar- But Flush Fletcher
ter against the Paxon Saints with
Kenny Owens as quarterback. Joe
Adams and AI Waters had intercep-
tions, while a fumble in overtime at
the Saints 10 yardline cost the Ti-
gers the game.
The Tigers started their regular
season with an impressive 27-17 win
over the Fletcher Senators.
The team's enthusiasm began to
mount when Tommy Young scored
halfway through the first quarter
after Kelly Lowrey recovered a fum-
ble on the Senators 17 yardline. Paul
Johnson's conversion was good.
Alan Blair, who had just recovered
from a back injury, had a spectacu-
lar 56 yard touchdown. Kenny
Owens upped the score to 21-7 with
a quarterback sneak. Late in the
fourth quarter, the Tiger quarter-

sideline for a fantastic 66 yard
touchdown to break open the game
so the Tigers could go home with a
victory under their belt.
