On October 14, 1977, America lost a
great entertainer. Bing Crosby, 73,
died of a heart attack as he left the
9ighteenth hole of a golf course. His
last words were, "It was a great
game."
Bing was a singer who made 850
recordings including "White Christ-
mas," at almost 40 million copies.
He was an actor in comedy "Road"
and one of his serious roles was in
the movie "Going My Way."
He was a family man, after raising
four children with his first wife he
started all over again with Kathryn
Grant, 30 years his junior, produc-
ing three more.
He was however, first and always a
singer.
Groucho Marx, The Marx with the
cigar and the leer-jet comicgenius
died at the· age of 86.
Guy Lombardo, the bandleader
Comic · Freddie Prinze had been whose velvety "Auld Lang Syne"
cracking jokes for friends and Rang in 48 American New Years,

court for a minor drug charge. De-
pressed by these problems he in-
vited some of his friends over to
cheer. him up. Then after all but one
had left he took a 32-caliber auto-
matic pistol and put a bullet through
his head.
