e can look around u and ee the
change that have ~ontinued for
W 100 year . Lake City has evolved
from a leepy little town, where everyone
knew everyone el e, to a fa t food mecca
with four lane cri cro ing in every direc-
tion. Many people move here and leave
quickly but more ettle here than ever be-
fore becau e they ee a pirit of growth and
experience a feeling that thi land can be-
come their .
Education ha evolved from the mall ru-
ral elementary chool doting the country
ide to large complexe in central areas of
the city. The High chool ha changed from
the old egregated and regional concepts to
one central location outh of town on what
orne deri ively call a hill. Riding around
the city we can till ee the old chool at
Watertown that now hou e office and the
old High chool on we t Duval that now
hou e the eventh grade center. CH is the
newe t and roo t modern facility in the
county y tern but it has been fraught with
de ign and technical problem . The large t
problem involve the leaking roof but it has
improved enough that the leak are no
longer waterfall but low drip into the
buckets that line the hall after a good rain.
The facility doe provide large and airy
clas room , good cafeteria food, excellent
library re ource , and a caring and dedi-
cated taff of teacher and upport per on-
nel.
Downtown Lake City has changed too.
The Court Hou e till dominate the park
and tree till green a few areas but the
overall look ha changed to a more profe -
ional and diver ified appearance.
CH ha alway been a chool that did
the be t with what it had. Back when there
were only a handful of teacher , education
and the well being of tudents was the pri-
mary concern. Thi feeling has only grown
with time. From the ign that welcome tu-
dents on the fir t day of chool to the clean
and poli hed floor that maintenance la-
bor over, CH has done the be t that can
be done.
Wherever we go in our life, it will be hard
to fmd a place that has a richer or more
caring hi tory.
