CHURCH AND FUN ?
Church and fun in the same sentence?
To some this sounds appalling, but to these ... AND THEN SOME !
CHS students and many more, their youth
group activities add another escape from
their hectic life at school. These get-
togethers should and will strengthen their
lives for the future. There are many
activities which youth participate in. Youth
choirs take up time for some students.
These choirs often perform musicals, go on
tours, or even compete with other choirs.
FUNdraisers are a constant fact of life as
youth raise money for trips and activities.
Perhaps the best part of youth groups is
the regular meetings and fellowship during
the week.
"Working as a state officer in the
Florida United Methodist Conference
Youth Department has given me a
much greater knowledge of the
opportunities available to youth. Any
youth who wants to has the option to
become involved in many exciting
programs."
- Renee Patterson
Ski trips are always popular. Julie McNeill and Kim Borst are enjoying the First Presbyterian Church's
annual ski trip in West Virginia. Thank goodness - this year it snowed!
Half the fun of retreats is meeting new people.
Leigh Swisher, Wendy Warner, Peggy
Mahoney, and Stephanie Daugherty pose
crazy with friends from all over the
Northeastern and Southern United States in
Dayton, Ohio on a week long retreat with their
l.I.F.E. Group
Another good thing about youth groups is their
resemblance to the Energizer bunny - they
keep going and going ... Dennis and Michael
Thompson can still smile after the1r group's
day·long swimming party.
