This year has been one of great change for the girls'
softball team. First, they found that they no longer had a
"home" field. The Lady Tigers' old field was demolished to
make room for the new football stadium, and the new field, on
the west side of campus, was not ready when the season began.
An even greater change for the team was the "new" sport of fast
pitch softball. No one on the team had ever played anything but
slow pitch softball, so learning how to bunt, steal, swing faster,
and remember all of the various batting and base running
signals has been quite a challenge. Still, the most important
aspect of playing softball has remained intact. The friendships
and close bonds formed between the players throughout the
season are still just as strong and lasting. This year has proved it
doesn't matter how fast the ball is thrown, or how the player
swings the bat, it's the people who are with them when they do
it that makes all the difference.
