The Columbia High School Chorus, under the direction of Mr.
Kilpatrick, has had an exciting year. Their first performance was a
tribute to the music of American musical theater composer
Richard Rodgers. Featuring the entire chorus, as well as soloists
and small groups, this year's Cabaret was a great success.
Chorus students also participated in Walt Disney World's Candle-
light Processional in December. It was a great honor to be
accepted to sing at this annual Christmas program performed in
the American pavilion at EPCOT. "It was really cool to perform at
Candlelight this year. It's really neat to be backstage at Disney
World" said senior Michelle Davis. Chamber Singers and
Women's Ensemble spread holiday cheer to the veterans by
caroling throughout the VA Hospital. Two seniors, Tristan St.
John and Christy Holder were selected to attend the All-State
Chorus in Tampa. They had to exhibit excellence in musician-
ship, sight-reading and performance to be chosen for this honor.
"I learned so much at All-State. It was great to perform difficult
music and to be around other people who were enthusiastic
about music," said Tristan St. John. The second semester was
focused on performances at District Solo and Ensemble Music
Performance Assessment and District Choral Music Performance
Assessment. CHS was represented at these adjudications by
four ensembles and three choruses. Chamber Singers was
selected to represent Florida in a Salute to America in Washing-
ton D.C. in April. ''This is a great opportunity for us to show the
world how great the CHS Chorus is," said Mr. Kilpatrick, "We are
very excited about this trip." The year concluded with perfor-
mances at State Music Performance Assessment at the Univer-
sity of Florida and a spring concert.
