FRENCH CLUB
French Club at CHS is a bit of a
hybrid--it combines with Key Club to
do service activities and with French
classes to do cultural activities. In the
Fall, French club took a trip to
Sandalwood High School to see the
national theater for the Performing Arts
production of "Les Trois
Mousquetaires". It also was involved in
counting and sorting canned goods in
Ms. Wises' room to fill Thanksgiving
baskets for 32 families. Several
members dressed up as Sponge Bob
Square Pants, as well as Beauty and
the Beast, to help entertain the small
children at the HRS Christmas party.
French Club members are busy
responding to letters from Roanne,
France, sent by one of Ms. Wise's
former French students, Mike Lestock,
who is teaching there; they are also
writing to students in Thiers, France,
who inhabit a small village perched on
the side of an extinct volcano. They
celebrate Mardi Gras with cakes and
hidden babies, as well as Food Day
with students grouped together to
prepare and enjoy French cuisine. As a
result, it's often "Bon Appetit" time for
students of French.
