was blind sided by a cheap shot to his left side that led to a dislocated shoulder. Green was looking like a field general leading his
troops to an impressive victory until his unfortunate accident. Even with all of its misfortune, Columbia brought home the win for
this important game. Orlando Jones limped home after the Tigers were triumphant. Orlando Jones was spanked 40-6.
Going on the road again, Columbia faced Madison, a class 2A school with a record of 4-0-1 . Being a smaller school,
Columbia thought they had the game "in the bag." All of this changed in the last two minutes of the first half, when Columbia's
overconfidence cost them the game. 31-33 was the bittersweet pill of the whole season.
Columbia now being 5-1 and coming off of a tough loss, sought revenge against their next opponent, Gainesville High
School, pounding them to a score of 46-7. Columbia's defense came out steaming, much like the offense, and held Gainesville at
under thirty total yards for the evening.
The Tigers went on to play Ft. White at home where the game was a total shutout. Despite all of the hype and controversy
promoted by local newspapers, the classic game, which is now known as "The Gateway Classic", showed good sportsmanship on
the part of both teams. After an almost effortless win, 47-0, the Tigers went on to play Eastside High. Eastside was all bark and no
bite. What the team lacked in talent they made up for in size. Nevertheless, the Tigers won with a score of 46-6.
During the regular season Leon proved to be impressive by using a big offensive back and an air assault. But in Round
One of the playoffs the Tigers stopped them in their tracks in both the air and the land coming out with a 48 - 14 victory.
Round Two was Pensacola High who brought a dangerous passing game and a running game to boot. The Columbia
Tiger's defense helped them to push to victory with a score of 28-12.
Round Three was Choctawhatchee. The Indians were blowing smoke after their previous big wins and thought that our
T1gers would be nothing out of the ordinary. Their powwow never materialized because our Tigers gave them a 28 - 0 romp.
Round Four was Lake Gibson. We lost in the Final Four. What looked so promising came to a tragic end. Our beloved
Tigers made key mistakes that cost them what looked to be another easy win in a fight for a dying cause, resulting in the final
       score of 33-14
Columbia has come out this year with pride and talent, making it a season to remember. All of the fans and cheerleaders
have had such an impact in making the 2003-2004 season, one of the best Columbia County has seen in many years.
