Early December is when Florida's weather
finally becomes extremely cold and we as
students are faced with the anticipation of
Christmas break as well as New Years - we
just have to get through midterms!
We become fans of the "Florida Freeze of
2009" page on Facebook, our minds recalling
the frigid weeks where seeing our breath
became more common than the CHS
bathroom stalls being out of toilet paper.
We check the weather constantly with
slim hopes that the snow will grace us with its
sweet presence, even if only for a few short
hours. Some find themselves (willingly) in the
coldest place in Lake City, the soccer fields.
Fighting with the wind; not even blankets can
create warmth.
First semester exams consume the minds
of those who, unfortunately, have to take
them - while seniors or students who did well
enough on the FCAT count their blessings
that they don't. During Christmas break, we
fill our lives with family, delicious foods,
relaxation, and the excitement of New Years.
It's the start of a new year, full of new
opportunities to perhaps change our lives,
or continue working on becoming the person
we want to be!
We're then thrust back into the day in and
day out of school-looking eagerly towards
Spring Break. But keep a tight hold on your
winter memories of 2009 and remember, it
really is "the most wonderful time of year".
